I'm a member of film selection committee for NIFF 2012 competition category, and I also help the activities of the public relations department.

This year, the selection committee consists of 5 members. 4 of them other than I speak French and German as well as English; I'm sure they'll make a significant contribution to selecting films collected from all over the world. As my English skill is as low as a Junior High School level, I'm currently taking a NHK radio basic English course. But, my skill hasn't been improved yet, and I'm guessing that I will struggle with selection. My house, however, was in front of a theater as a kid, which gave me more opportunities to watch movies. Movies I watched were mostly the Toei period films for children, though.

“One film changed my life”: As advertising copy (probably in a book or something else) says, impressions deeply entrenched in one’s memories can influence their lives. So that the film culture will root in Nara, I will try my best in film selection with my senses.
